Welcome to the forum,

Our Raspberry Pi4 will arrive later this week, and we can answer that after some testing. We are mostly a hobby group, so have to buy retail like everyone else....

As we use the OpenGL driver to get some CAD/CAM programs to work, we still need to verify every Application functions with the newer pi4 gpu.

We delayed the new release a few weeks until we can test the Pi4 stability with a 32bit RT kernel on Stretch.  Notably, the motherboards can easily handle the 2.5A  +5v power for a pi4, but I still want to test everything is still in the safe-operating-areas using my own pi4 before updating the documentation.

We also added a few new goodies like OpenCV 3.4.5, newer OpenSCAD, and ROS Melodic tutorial... The rc2 disk image will be a bigger download... but will include a few bug fixes caused by updating Raspbian Stretch (again... Pi foundations related  shenanigans).

However, I would still delay using Buster for anything that needs stability at least until everyone can load test it for a few weeks.  I remain cautiously optimistic about the performance boost, and will post some test data soon.

Cheers,

J

Thanks for the reply and understand very well your position on the subject of raspberry pi 4.
I did some tests with a Raspberry pi 3 + B and I would have questions about the difficulties encountered during its implementation.
As I do not have English culture, I have to structure the questions :(

After briefly testing the new rc2, we determined it does not seem compatible with the kernel7 build for pi3. Although the pi4 firmware is loaded from an external eeprom, it also requires a custom kernel7l based build.

We will try cross-compiling on Stretch, but the RT kernel tree may not support the pi4. Thus, if we can't find a way to provide support for Stretch without upgrading .  Than we may have to rebuild the distro around a clean Raspbian Buster image, and that will take awhile.

We will avoid the temptation to do a live OS upgrade, as it has been found to generate some of the most heinous bugs in the past. ;-)

Cheers,

J

Thanks. I will wait.
