Forums:

I have an older power 20-pin ATX power supply, and it doesn't look like it fits the 24-pin connector on the infinity motherboard.

Do I have to buy a different power supply?

Tim said it should work, but didn't explain how and I don't want to break anything

This shows how to jam an old  20-pin ATX power supply plug into a 24-pin motherboard socket. Note, there are 4 empty pins on the inner side of the 24-pin board socket, and this must be identically positioned on your setup.  The 5A plugs also tend to be larger on old machines, and fitting the plugs into their positions can get finicky.

However, never try this on other modern computer PC motherboards unless it specifically states it has legacy compatibility. Finally, check the supply label to make sure it  minimally supplies 18A on a single +12v1 rail for 3 NEMA steppers, and +5SB at 2.5A for the digital logic. I will see you on Tuesday if you need further help, or want to try the old gen1 split-power rail setup. ;-)

Cheers,

J
